Workshop venue: headquarters of the National Research-Development Institute for Animal Biology and Nutrition, Calea Bucuresti 1, Balotesti, Romania, (near Otopeni/Henri Coanda airport – map: https://goo.gl/HoNN3W

Date: October 15 (14.00) – October 16 (13.00), 2015

The workshop will address the advances and challenges in the dairy sector (sheep, goats, cattle) in a multidisciplinary & multi actor approach to define strategies to improve profitability in low input and organic dairy systems. The workshop will present the outputs from the EU FP7 project SOLID particularly as they relate to Eastern Europe.

Presentations will include

  • Outputs from the FP7 SOLID project (www.solidairy.eu);
  • Outputs from other national and international projects on ruminants;
  • Specifics of the dairy systems in Eastern Europe; and
  • Discussion sessions (on sector specific problems, efficiency of the technological transfer, etc.)

Emphasis will be made on the valorisation of the research results into practice and maximization of their impact (economic, environmental, societal, etc.). Special attention will be given to production and product quality as well as socioeconomics.

The workshop will be of interest to scientists, academia, farmers / processors / feed producers, associations & companies representatives, agricultural advisors, NGO’s, authorities, etc. especially from Eastern European countries

Financial support opportunities

The EU FP7 project SOLID has funds (up to €500/person) to support the attendance of a limited number of early career scientists from the Eastern Europe Region to attend the 2-day workshop in Romania.

Criteria for selection – You must be:

  • From Eastern Europe Region
  • Actively involved in research, extension, industry, or policy in subjects related to the aims of SOLID project
  • Within 10 years of degree or post graduate qualification
  • Registered with a scientific communication (either oral or poster) to the workshop

Deadline for all financial support applications is 16th September 2015, 18.00h (GMT).

We will carefully select the candidates using the above criteria and to ensure a good regional and gender representation. If you are chosen to receive support, we will inform you by 18th September 2015 and you will need to reply, accepting the conditions by 21th September 2015.

Funds up to €500 will be given (upon travel tickets, invoices & bills, etc.) but we will consider requests of up to €1000 if there are exceptional circumstances. You will need to inform us about these in the application form.
